Higher thinking skills through IT-Based Projects
It is the students
themselves who demonstrate higher thinking skills and creativity through such
activities searching for information, organizing and synthesizing ideas,
creating presentation and the likes.
RESOURCE-BASED PROJECTS
Resource-based
learning is student-centered. Students are actively involved and more
accountable for their own learning.
Skills for accessing,
evaluating, using, and applying information are carefully targeted, ensuring
that students meet the outcomes for information literacy identified in the
approved curriculum and instructional programs.
In this project, the
teacher steps out of the traditional role of being an content expert and
information provider, and instead let the students fin d their own facts and
information.
Flow of Resource-Based Projects are:
*The teacher
determines the topic for the examination of the class(e.g. the definition of
‘’man’’)
*The teacher
present the topic to the class.
*The students find
information on the problem/question.
*Students
organize their information in the
response to the problem/questions.

RESOURCE-BASED PROJECT, A WEBQUEST.
Is an
inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by
learner are drawn from the web. webquest is designed to use learner's time well to focus support the
learner’s thinking at the level of analysis and evaluation.

An developing software, creativity as an outcome should not be equated with ingenuity or high intelligence, creating is more constant with planning, making, assembling, designing, or building. creativity is said to combine three kind of skills/abilities.

§Analyzing-
distinguishing similarities and difference seeing the project as a problem to
be solved.

spontaneous connection among ideas thus generating interest or new ideas.

§PROMOTING- selling of
new ideas to allow the public to test the ideas themselves.
5 key tasks
§Define the task.
Clarify the goal of the completed project to the student.
§Brainstorming. The
student themselves will be allowed to generate their own ideas on the project.
§Judge the ideas. the
student themselves make an appraisal for or against any idea.
§Act. the student do
their work with the teacher a facilitator.
§Adopt flexibility.
the student should be allowed to shift gears and not follow an action path
rigidly.
Guided hypermedia projects
effectiveness in a real-world setting.
The Production of Self-made Multimedia Project can be
approached in two ways:
*As an instructive tool, such as in
the production by students of a powerpoint presentation of selected topic.
*As a communication tool, such as when
student do a multimedia presentation(with text, graphs, photos, audio
narration, interviews, video clips, etc.)to stimulate a television news show.
Web-based projects
The Web-based School Projects Ring allows teachers and
students to use the Internet for real life problem solving. For example, Tom
March and Dr. Bernie Dodge created the awesome WebQuests activity formats that
allows teachers to involve PreK-Higher Education students in cooperative
groups as they develop a solution that can take the form of oral presentations,
web pages and multimedia presentations. The WebQuest and other Internet
Projects in this Web Ring allows educators easy navigation to important
sites.
Students can be made to create and post WebPages on a given
topic. but creating WebPages, even single webpage, may be too sophisticated and
time consuming for the average student.
